ABOUT
Hi, I’m Miss Becca! For more than 20 years I’ve taught dance to young children and use my expertise and knowledge to help other teachers reach their highest potential with their students. First impressions matter and I hope to inspire the next generation of passionate dancers with my creative class curriculum. I see a need to create what moves each other emotionally and physically by manifesting the power of artistic expression. I encourage others to try new ideas and interesting ways of doing things, enabling freedom of expression and connection with students.
I have a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance and have performed professionally on America’s Got Talent and around the world with modern dance companies. I’m sure you know that teaching 3 year olds feels like a dance performance! I make dances as a choreographer, write children’s books, and produce dance theater works in regional theater spaces. My most important job as a mom of three has gifted me firsthand experience with children’s developmental milestones.
Teaching dance to our youngest students is a studio’s biggest first impression. It is where you will get the most amount of children trying dance for the first time so you want to give the best experience possible. Studios will thrive if they can retain their youngest group. Teaching preschool level requires a special knowledge of early childhood development and a special set of skills that includes precise word choice, pacing, spatial formations, thoughtful transitions, and the use of expression and imagination.
Not to mention, teachers get bored and burnt out from teaching the same old stuff to this age group. They need help with fresh, engaging curriculum, music selection, and classroom management advice. I think it’s the hardest age to teach dance because you can’t just teach the steps.
Studio owners do not have the time to create fully complete lesson plans and music playlists because it’s time consuming. I’m excited to provide studios and teachers with concise video lessons and accompanying music playlists so that they are ready to go with quality lesson plans.
Let’s dance together!
